Welcome to Prestige Wrestling Club!

We are excited to have you join the Prestige Wrestling family. Our goal is to help athletes grow through wrestling by teaching discipline, hard work, toughness, accountability, and sportsmanship. We want Prestige to be a place where athletes can develop on and off the mat, build friendships, and learn to love the sport.

General Announcements

• We are officially in our new building

• Practice Location: 4143 W 8370 S, Suite 4, West Jordan, UT 84088

• Folkstyle practices begin September 8th

• Folkstyle Season: September 8th – February 27th

• Payment and registration links will be posted within each class

• Payment links will be available beginning September 1st

• Folkstyle is now paid by season rather than monthly

• 10% sibling discount for the second and any additional siblings

• Athletes may be moved between groups by the coaching staff to make sure they are training in the best environment for their development

• First Parent Meeting: Thursday, October 29th at 7:00 PM at the new building

• Tournament schedules and tournament registration links will be posted separately

GroupMe App

GroupMe will be our primary communication tool for practices, tournament information, schedule changes, reminders, and club announcements.

• Download the GroupMe app

• Join the appropriate Prestige group

• Scan the provided QR code or use the group invitation link

• Please make sure at least one parent/guardian is in the appropriate GroupMe

• Check GroupMe regularly during the season for updates

Practice Equipment

Athletes should bring:

• Wrestling shoes

• Athletic shorts

• T-shirt or athletic shirt

• Water bottle

Please have athletes come ready to practice and bring their own water bottle.

Tournament Uniforms

• Any appropriate wrestling singlet may be used during most Folkstyle tournaments

• Prestige gear will be available separately as information becomes available

• Freestyle and Greco tournaments may require red and blue singlets or a reversible red/blue singlet

• Specific uniform requirements for major tournaments will be communicated in advance

Parent Expectations

To keep Prestige positive, organized, and athlete-focused, we ask all parents to follow these expectations.

• No coaching during practice. Parents should allow the coaching staff to run the room unless specifically asked to help

• Please allow coaches to correct, teach, and challenge athletes without coaching over them from the side

• Parents are welcome to coach their own athlete at tournaments when a Prestige coach is not available at that mat

• Please coordinate with Prestige coaches whenever possible so we can provide coverage for as many athletes as possible

• Treat referees, tournament staff, opposing coaches, athletes, and other parents respectfully

• No verbal or physical altercations will be tolerated

• Model good sportsmanship regardless of the result of a match

• Support the entire Prestige team, not only your own athlete

• Questions or concerns should be brought directly to the coaching staff rather than discussed negatively around athletes

USA Wrestling Membership Card

A current USA Wrestling membership is required for athletes competing in USA Wrestling-sanctioned events.

I recommend purchasing the Full Athlete Membership.

How to Get Your USA Wrestling Membership

• Go to the USA Wrestling Membership website

• Create or log into your account

• Select Manage

• Select Manage Profile

• Select Get Memberships

• Select Athlete Purchase/Renew

• Select Available Memberships

• Find Full Athlete

• Complete checkout and payment

Your athlete should have their USA Wrestling membership completed before registering for tournaments that require it.

Registering for Tournaments

Prestige events and many of the tournaments we attend are moving primarily to USA Bracketing rather than Trackwrestling.

USA Bracketing

• Go to USA Bracketing

• Create or log into your account

• Find the tournament you want to attend

• Select the appropriate registration option

• Enter your athlete's information

• Select Team Prestige / Prestige Wrestling Club when the club/team option is available

• Select the correct age division and weight

• Complete payment

• Check your registration carefully before submitting

Tournament-specific registration links will also be posted in GroupMe whenever possible so families do not have to search for the event.

Trackwrestling

Some outside tournaments may still use Trackwrestling.

If an event is hosted through Trackwrestling:

• Go to Trackwrestling

• Select Events

• Select Search Events

• Find the tournament

• Select Pre-Register

• Select New Registration

• Select Add Wrestler

• Enter your athlete's information

• Use Team Prestige / Prestige Wrestling Club when available

• Complete registration and payment

Always use the registration link posted by the coaches when one is provided.

Tournament Communication

• Tournament participation is generally optional unless coaches specifically communicate otherwise

• Tournament information will be posted in GroupMe

• Families are responsible for registering their own athlete unless otherwise stated

• Double-check registration deadlines, weigh-in information, age divisions, and weight classes before registering

• Contact a coach if you are unsure which division or weight to select

• Coaches will communicate which events we strongly recommend for each group

Athlete Placement

• Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Girls, and High School groups are based on what will best help the athlete develop

• Placement is not simply based on age

• Coaches may move athletes up or down depending on experience, ability, maturity, size, and training needs

• Advanced placement is ultimately determined by the coaching staff

• Our goal is to put every athlete in a room where they can be challenged while still being successful
